My name is Jane Jian (right). I have been living in NZ for 3 years. I am from Shenzhen China. My mother tongue is mandarin. I can also speak Haka, which is a dialect from my father’s hometown. Even though I do not speak it much, but when I visit my father’s hometown, I will use it to communicate with my relatives. I started learning English at the age of 11 years old at primary school, but my speaking and listening were not very good when I first arrived in NZ. I did not have any friends in NZ and my English was not very good, hence I was looking for a school to help me settle in here. Then I found DynaSpeak online. I am currently studying level 4 academic. At DynaSpeak, I have the environment to study and use English. I can also make friends while studying. Also the teachers here make the lessons easy to understand. During my study, I have met many friends. I have improved my English. The study materials are very useful and practical for daily life in NZ. They taught me a lot about NZ culture as well as cultures from other cultures. My long term goals are to further improve my English until I am good enough to study a degree in Education. Eventually I want to become a teacher in Childcare. A memorable moment was a class shared lunch where I got to taste traditional foods from different culture. I also shared the recipe with my classmates.
